asheville, nc exploration + stay at the windsor asheville!

Asheville is a city in western North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s known for a vibrant arts scene and historic architecture, including the dome-topped Basilica of Saint Lawrence. The vast 19th-century Biltmore estate displays artwork by masters like Renoir. The Downtown Art District is filled with galleries and museums, and in the nearby River Arts District, former factory buildings house artists' studios.

We were delighted to stay at the Windsor Asheville!

The Windsor Boutique Hotel offers unique and upscale accommodations within walking distance of the best restaurants, breweries, shops and galleries in the heart of downtown Asheville.

Initially constructed in 1907, The Windsor completed an eighteen-month historical renovation in 2013. They feature 14 luxury suites, each with its own character and charm. Each suite has a private bedroom, bathroom, washer/dryer, fully equipped kitchen and living room providing plenty of room to relax and unwind. Enjoy luxurious Sferra bedding and bath linens while you relax in your suite.

The hand-selected artwork and decor around the hotel are a fusion of pieces purchased locally and in Paris. Enjoy a petit parisienne combined with a “love for the rustic.” Regardless of the duration of your stay, The Windsor will make you feel at home.

For dinner, we were invited to Rhubarb, a popular restaurant spot in Asheville! This particular night, was Sunday Supper.

Each Sunday at 6:30 they serve a three-course meal at the communal tables. The Sunday Supper menu is different from the regular restaurant menu & reflects the bounty of the weekend markets presented family style. Also, a local guest farmer hosts the weekly convivial community tables. It’s not just “farm to table”, it’s “Farmer to Table”. It starts with a selection of snacks to pass, proceed to an entrée with several accompaniments served family style & finished with dessert.
