my uncle: wide receiver for the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS.

In honor of the Super Bowl today, I thought I’d do a little bragging 😉 My family are the most important people in my life. Ever since I was a little girl, with my purple Tamagotchi hanging from my backpack, they’ve always encouraged me to be the BEST I can be. It’s been stressed that I can do ANYTHING I put my mind to as long as I put God first. So, the way I see it is I owe them everything + I wanted to do a special article for my uncle: STANLEY MORGAN.

He lives in Tennessee but he & my aunt come to visit as much as they can. I can remember Stanley coming to see my grandma, hands full of football cards. He’d save the best ones for my brother, inked with his signature. School & grades were always  the base of our conversations. I always admired the way he’d focus on us, especially with all the amazing things he’s experienced. Although right now he’s too sick to travel long distances, he stays in touch with us as much as possible.

My dad would tell us stories of how he would watch all the games and meet all the coaches. They’d let him run out with the team & how he got to meet some of the greats. My dad ended up playing football in high school, his entire family fell in love with the sport.

NFL.com notes him as one of the most underrated players of all-time.

“For a long time Morgan was one of the most feared deep threats in football, averaging 19.4 yards per catch for his career. Slot guys today don’t record single catches of 19 yards let alone average that much. His numbers compare favorably with Pro Football Hall of Famers Lynn Swann and John Stallworth. But because he wasn’t flying around in January like those two, he’s not in Canton where he should be.”

Although he played from 1997-1989, he’s still remembered today as one of the best players of all time. Therefore, in 2007 he was inducted into the Patriots Hall Of Fame.

“He hauled in 534 career reception, a franchise record that stood for 17 years. He remains the franchise record holder with 10,352 receiving yards and 67 touchdowns. His career average of 19.2 yards per catch still stands as an NFL record for those with more than 500 career receptions. Morgan also holds the single season receiving record for touchdowns (12 in 1979) and yards (1,491 in 1986). A four-time Pro Bowl honoree, he also was a fine punt returner, ranking among the career leaders in Patriots history. In 2007, Morgan was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame.”

Even today, Patriot fans are OUTRAGED that Stanley isn’t in the NFL Hall of Fame. The reason he isn’t is because he was humble. He didn’t put focus on getting famous and putting his brand out there. Stanley put everything into the game and his team. As of today, Patriot fans everywhere are fighting to get him admitted. With his talent compared to his stats, the best things are worth waiting for.

Guest Post: 9 Fashion Must-Haves for Men

Becoming a stylish gent doesn’t necessarily have to break the bank, and it’s also easier than you think. With just a few simple additions to your wardrobe (and ditching the cargo shorts) you too are capable of turning more than a few heads with your style nous.

1. White button-down shirt
The white shirt is the epitome of versatility. It can go with anything, and anything can go with it. Heading to an interview? White shirt under your suit. Out for a drink with the boys? White shirt and jeans. This is quite possibly the single most important garment in your wardrobe and often the one viewed with derision. It’s just a white shirt after all, right? Try living without one and get back to us.
2. White sneakers
Now when we say simple, we mean simple. A plain pair of white sneakers are incredibly stylish and don’t get the attention they deserve. Sometimes less is more, and this is particularly true when it comes to the soles of your feet. Save the ostentatious high tops for the basketball court where they belong.
3. Tan shoes
There’s a common misconception among us men that black shoes are the be all and end all of formal footwear. For the office, weddings, interviews, and even date nights in fancy restaurants we can’t shake the notion that our shoes must be black and they must be shiny. Get out of that mindset and start wearing tan brogues with your navy or grey suit or even with your jeans for a classier casual look.
4. White t-shirt
When dress down Friday swings by at the office the chances are that the majority of your male colleagues will arrive in branded t-shirts. There’s nothing wrong with that but these one-time original style statements have become far too common. Stick on a high-quality white t-shirt and a pair of jeans and you’ll be surprised how much you stand out from the crowd.
5. Beige trench coat
Think more along the lines of Humphrey Bogart than Inspector Clouseau, and you’ll see where we’re heading with this one. The beige trench coat is an excellent spring coat that keeps out the chills and rain on your daily commute to the office. But it’s often overlooked as a casual coat and to be quite honest we’re not sure why? It adds a touch of class to a casual jeans and t-shirt look and looks far better than your usual parka.
6. Navy blazer
The blazer or sports coat is your get out of jail card for any event where you’re not sure about the dress code. Not too casual to look out of place at a wedding and not too formal for friend’s birthday party, the navy blazer is always a safe bet. You can dress it up or down as much as you like but always add a pocket square.
7. Stylish sunglasses
You know those awesome Oakley shades you bought for biking and running? Well, that’s what they’re for, biking and running. Please don’t be one of those guys that shows up at the races or a wedding in his sports sunnies. If style is your main dress concern of the day, then your sunglasses should reflect this. Choose a pair of aviators or even retro square style shades and make sure you take them off when you go indoors or when the sun goes down.
8. Slim pair of chinos
Jeans are great, but everyone has at least five pairs in their wardrobe. So for a slightly different look and a tad more comfort, a pair of chinos is ideal. Nowadays you can get them in pretty much any colour you like, but we’re going to stick with navy blue because it pairs so well with everything.
9. Navy blue suit
And last but by no means least, the navy blue suit. Now we know that you probably have a black or charcoal suit in your wardrobe, and if you already have one in navy, then we applaud your sartorial savviness. However, if you don’t then put it at the top of your to-do list. This is one of the most versatile suits you will ever own. Worn with black shoes and a tie it can be quite formal, whereas worn with those tan brogues we told you to buy earlier, it’s downright dapper in the most casual of ways.
We’re not suggesting for a moment that you max out the credit card on all of the above items and, in fact, you probably have quite a few of them already. But if you don’t, then make a list and promise yourself to buy at least two or three each month and in no time you’ll be quite the office style icon.

How to Create Your Own Blog

Do you already have a blog but you’re stuck? You’ve taken the first step but haven’t gotten any farther? Or maybe you just have absolutely no clue where to start. This article is for YOU. Blogging is about sharing your knowledge and your passion. You should be in it to have fun. Write. You cannot be successful if you’re just focused on making money. There are bloggers that make over $100,00 a year and bloggers that make nothing. I’ll be writing an article soon about how to make money blogging so make sure to subscribe!

The first thing you wanna do is meditate. Think about something you love. Look at other blogs for ideas. One of the best things about blogging is that no one is going to judge you when all of you have the same thing in common. I suggest getting a notebook just for your blog. Start writing out ideas. It’s okay if you have more than one interest, write it down. There are no limits.

Now to decide what platform to use. The best blogging platforms I suggest you use are blogger.com, tumblr.com, and wordpress.com. How do you know which platform to use?! Blogger.com is free & simple BUT it’s basically run by Google so they have the power to shut down your account and/or your access. This is only in extreme cases. With Blogger you are provided with very limited tools. When it comes to design, the site provides templates but only a limited set. Although, you CAN modify the colors and the layouts to make them your own. If you ever want to switch over to a different platform, there is a very high risk you will loose your search engine rankings, subscribers, or followers. Making money on Blogger is an option.

With WordPress the possibilities are endless. This is what I use. You have complete control over EVERYTHING. WordPress is an “open source software” which is just a smart way of saying you can simply add thousands of features and themes to your blog whenever you like. If you have a business, this platform is the best. Another key perk is that you can move your site without a problem & whenever you want if you change your  mind about anything. Making money on WordPress is an option.

Tumblr is hands down the EASIEST and SIMPLEST blog I can think of. Not only is it popular, it’s casual and quick. The site uses hashtags to attract other users. You’re also able to re-blog content from other blogs, easily get followers, and answer questions. Now it is possible to make money but it’s a challenge & you may have problems. I recommend this platform if you have more than one interest or you just want to share & relate with people who have the same interests as you. I have a personal account and I love it but I don’t have the time to stay as dedicated to it.

After you’ve chosen your platform, it gives you the option to name your blog. Totally up to you! I suggest using your first blog post to explain what your blog is & what your vision for your blog is. If you have any questions or comments please comment below! xoxo, Mikayla.
