I’M BACK! with a new clothing line :-)

MY APOLOGIES FAMILY. I took a month off to put together something I’ve been dreaming about doing for a very long time. After many long nights & stressful mornings, I finally launched my new line ‘Cinnamon Gray’ on January 29th! *insert heart emoji* haha, I’m absolutely ecstatic to start this journey. I’ve been taking care of myself mentally + physically in anticipation for the new year. Reading more books, working on my relationship with God, eating healthy breakfasts, & coming up with more blog posts ideas for you guys! There’s been some rocky roads along the way, but I can’t express how thankful I am to have you guys with me. If you have any ideas or a topic you’d like me to write about don’t be afraid to let me know! This is a new year for fresh inspiration + I absolutely crave it. Make sure to follow my line on Instagram @cinnamongray! Check it out & tell me what you think! It means the world that you guys have supported me this far. I’m thinking weekly blog posts ? we’ll be in touch 😉 xo, mikayla

How to Create Your Own Blog

Do you already have a blog but you’re stuck? You’ve taken the first step but haven’t gotten any farther? Or maybe you just have absolutely no clue where to start. This article is for YOU. Blogging is about sharing your knowledge and your passion. You should be in it to have fun. Write. You cannot be successful if you’re just focused on making money. There are bloggers that make over $100,00 a year and bloggers that make nothing. I’ll be writing an article soon about how to make money blogging so make sure to subscribe!

The first thing you wanna do is meditate. Think about something you love. Look at other blogs for ideas. One of the best things about blogging is that no one is going to judge you when all of you have the same thing in common. I suggest getting a notebook just for your blog. Start writing out ideas. It’s okay if you have more than one interest, write it down. There are no limits.

Now to decide what platform to use. The best blogging platforms I suggest you use are blogger.com, tumblr.com, and wordpress.com. How do you know which platform to use?! Blogger.com is free & simple BUT it’s basically run by Google so they have the power to shut down your account and/or your access. This is only in extreme cases. With Blogger you are provided with very limited tools. When it comes to design, the site provides templates but only a limited set. Although, you CAN modify the colors and the layouts to make them your own. If you ever want to switch over to a different platform, there is a very high risk you will loose your search engine rankings, subscribers, or followers. Making money on Blogger is an option.

With WordPress the possibilities are endless. This is what I use. You have complete control over EVERYTHING. WordPress is an “open source software” which is just a smart way of saying you can simply add thousands of features and themes to your blog whenever you like. If you have a business, this platform is the best. Another key perk is that you can move your site without a problem & whenever you want if you change your  mind about anything. Making money on WordPress is an option.

Tumblr is hands down the EASIEST and SIMPLEST blog I can think of. Not only is it popular, it’s casual and quick. The site uses hashtags to attract other users. You’re also able to re-blog content from other blogs, easily get followers, and answer questions. Now it is possible to make money but it’s a challenge & you may have problems. I recommend this platform if you have more than one interest or you just want to share & relate with people who have the same interests as you. I have a personal account and I love it but I don’t have the time to stay as dedicated to it.

After you’ve chosen your platform, it gives you the option to name your blog. Totally up to you! I suggest using your first blog post to explain what your blog is & what your vision for your blog is. If you have any questions or comments please comment below! xoxo, Mikayla.
